So you may have noticed a few changes going on recently at Magnolia House?

We’ve had a sweet shop, and a cinema screen up on the first floor along with an authentic popcorn maker. Whilst Down stairs we now have our very own beauty parlour and nail salon.

This week sees the opening of our newest addition, our very own Pub!

A pub in a care home?

We appreciate its not the normal thing that first comes to mind, so how did we get here?

Wanting to achieve a standard above the norm we began discussing and creating ideas amongst the management team that would benefit the residents. Aiming to ‘bring the outside in’, and being built in the space of the former pub ‘The New England’ it seemed the perfect fit!

After speaking to the residents they all agreed this would be a fantastic addition to their home!

At Magnolia House, we are very lucky to have a proprietor who is very keen on improving standards, David has had a big part to play in the opening of the pub. He has been great in supporting us with the purchases required to make this a success allowing us to buy as we see necessary to make the pub achievable. We now have a Pool table, Darts board, Juke box and our very own beer pumps! All that was left was the little touches leading to the addition of beer mats, tables and of course a fabulous Name!

‘Magnolia Arms’ is due for our grand opening on the 1st March 2019, all friends and family of Magnolia House are invited to join us from 4pm for our pool tournament, chip cobs, pub quiz and a few cheeky tipples! Sign ups for the pool tournament are available in reception and also on the evening! We must forewarn you though, the gents have been spending lots of time practising ready for Friday evening!

We are very excited for this evening and hope this will be the first of many family nights in the pub!
